Bloodstained Ritual of the Night

Koji Igarashi (also known by his nickname IGA) has revealed that plans are afoot for his next exciting project – Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The veteran game developer has turned to kickstarter to prove to investors that there is interest in the 2.5D exploration-focused action platformer, a spiritual sequel to the famous Castlevania series.

Gameplay is all set in a huge “demon-filled castle”. The main hero of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is Miriam – 18-year-old orphan girl who has been scarred by a corrupt guild of alchemists. Her skin is crystallizing in stained-glass patterns, and slowly turning to crystal. This satanic curse is transforming Miriam into the conduit for a demonic invasion — the punishment for a world that has lost faith in them.

To remove this unbearable curse she is faced with various challenges through the game, but with the help of some good friends. Her friend Johannes, a rascal alchemist, managed to slow down the further spread of the crystallization by drawing certain runes around the infected areas on the skin. With his help, you will explore a massive, monster-filled castle in search of Gebel – Miriam’s old friend and fellow curse bearer who is afflicted for a much longer time. However, the cursed crystals in their bodies are linked to demonic magical powers.

In Ritual of the Night, you’ll have to explore the whole hellish castle. However, as you explore this massive castle you will find some warp gates that will allow you to travel quickly. Through the game, Miriam will gain various magic powers by the crystals on her skin, as well as other items that can be used to make new weapons and armor. In addition to the classic elements, your enemies will drop a wide range of items, strange materials, and magi-crystals.

The game is expected to be released in 2017 (in March) for PS4, Xbox One, as well as Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux. Just a little less than two years of waiting…
