Paperbound PS4

Dan Holbert, the main developer behind the upcoming PS4 title Paperbound and designer at  Dissident Logic, has announced that the literary brawler will be coming to PS4 and PC this spring.

The Paperbound PS4 game itself can be played between two or four players in a multiplayer mode and features some of the greatest books of all time. You’ll be able to play as one of the many characters from book classics like Inferno or A Journey to the Center of the Earth. Players may also be surprised by cameo appearances from famous characters in the gaming community like Guacamelee’s one and only Juan Aguacate.

While playing Paperbound PS4 you’ll get the feeling that you’re playing Super Smash Bros., but although Dissident Logic use the two games in comparison, don’t be fooled because this game has a unique plot and some very cool features. You’re the king of the environment that you play in, which is flexible and dynamic at the same time. The gravity in which your avatar navigates is also pretty loose and can change it at the click of a button.

Paperbound PS4 is a game where you run with scissors and walk on walls — all in the context of old books that have come to life. Fight your way through series of obstacles with a combination of powerful ink bombs and the scissors. Your enemies will explode with ease and if you don’t have anymore of those crafty bombs, you’ll have to use the scissors!

You can choose between four game modes, each one of them a story for itself. After you do that your goal is to guide your characters through 18 levels that are set in the virtual universe of five different classic books. The whole book scenery in the game is hand drawn.

The game is speedy and informative, which makes it a much anticipated project. There are 18 levels spread among the 5 books, and four different game modes in both free-for-all and team varieties.

Its very rare to see a game that mixes knowledge with fun and at the same time have such nice design and gameplay. It may not be perfect for RPG lovers or first person shooter fans, but it is a game that places a new focus on education through gaming. The sequel of Paperbound PS4, although not yet confirmed, should also see an increase in the number of books and characters covered.

As a different and great finale, in Paperbound PS4 the leading player will have to exit through a tear which opens in the page at the end, -marking an interesting twist to the basic versus mode and a wonderfully designed and thought out game.
