No Man’s Sky is finally out on PS4 and millions of gamers are preparing to immerse themselves in the new universe created by Hello Games. The developer has designed a whole galaxy to be explored by the players and many have been eager to get going ever since the game was first unveiled in 2014.

No Mans Sky first 5 Things to do

While the ultimate goal of the game is to reach the centre of the galaxy, it is the journey that makes the game exciting. From the start, the developers have included several elements that keep you hooked to the gameplay. And below you’ll find the first 5 things that you need to do when you begin playing No Man’s Sky:

  1. Get your Starship in Shape

Before exploring the vast galaxies of the No Man’s Sky, you will have to first come across a small starship that you need to repair to bring it to a good shape. The job needs you to do a few things that include performing the necessary repairs, fuel the ship up, and so forth. Then you need to take a space flight in order to get your first job done.

To help you progress through the game, several milestones have been set with locating, fixing the ship and taking the first flight being part of it. But that’s not it, you can freely move around the first planet you start from.

  1. Stock Up on the Essentials

No Man’s Sky is huge! Even while wandering around the smallest area of the first planet, you will come across several unique creatures, civilisations, plant lives, minerals and what not. Today, Sean Murray, co-founder of Hello Games, tweeted that the players discovered 10 million alien species in about a night’s time! It is more than the number species discovered on earth.

Since the game allows you to freely move around in the game, there are several valuable elements scattered around. You need to use your Exosuit’s scanner to find and collect them. The elements can even help you fix your ship, enhance your suit, or you can get a high price in the galactic market.

  1. Get Acquainted with the Sentinels

Sentinels are the galactic police force who have the job of maintaining law and order on each planet. To get their job done, the Sentinels silently patrol each planet and hover around to look after everything. The player will be introduced to them while in a mining expedition during the early stage of the game.

In the mission, the Sentinels will scan the area where the player has been mining looking for any suspicious activity. Once satisfied that the player is working in accordance with the galactic laws, they will leave. But, this a reminder for the player that they are being continuously watched.

  1. Blast off and Start Exploring!

Now since you have done all the exploration of your planet and collected a lot of essential elements to upgrade your suit and all, you are all set to explore the vastness of space. This is the time when you are going to look at the extensive galactic map and you get a sense of the scale of the gameplay.

No Man's SkyOut in space, you’ll see multiple star systems, each housing a host of planets for you to explore. Meanwhile, you will have to constantly upgrade your gear in countless ways, but you have to be wise enough as the inventory space is limited. The better you inventory management is, the better will be your chances of becoming a wealthy trader.

  1. Stir some Trouble, (but only when you’re ready!)

Remember the Sentinels? It was easy to get away from them in the early stage but when you advance further the things get tougher. You can easily get into a fight if the Sentinels find you to be threatening or if the lure of plundering space freighters increases. So, how can you tackle these fights and troubles?

The upgrades! Your Exosuit, Starship and Multi-Tool need to be in the best shape with all the modifications done to efficiently stand against the waves of Sentinels. As you move further into the gameplay, you will find many elements that can help you in the task, and you have to be really wise to use the best ones for winning all the battles.

All the best with No Man’s Sky!
