This weekend sees not one, but two open betas go live on PlayStation 4. The open betas for Metal Gear Survive and Monster Hunter: World give players the chance to try out the upcoming titles for free until the 21st and 22nd respectively.

Metal Gear Survive is the first Metal Gear game by Konami since Hideo Kojima’s departure in 2015. Meanwhile, Monster Hunter: World is the action adventure title developed by Capcom due for release on PS4 26 January.

Metal Gear Survive Open Beta

The Metal Gear Survive open Beta is already live on PlayStation 4. The survival action adventure game’s beta went live on 18 January and runs until the 21st. While highly anticipated, its clear the upcoming game has big boots to fill following Kojima’s departure. MG Survive features a brand new world set in an alternate reality which the beta gives players a chance to explore.

The game’s storyline is set in the moments after the destruction of Mother Base in Metal Gear Solid V. So you can try out the games’ new environments against hordes of enemies in four-player co-op battles. In addition, you can opt for solo combat missions too. Finally, if you’re giving the Metal Gear Survive open Beta a try be sure to give the the multiplayer arena combat a go.


Monster Hunter: World Open Beta

Monster Hunter: World’s Open Beta opens today on PS4. The beta will run from the 19th to the 22nd of January. The game is another of this year’s highly anticipated survival action adventure title. Try out your hunting, crafting and survival skills prior to the full game release on January 26. You’ll be able to experience the thrill of hunting and battling huge monsters in a brand new world.
