Sony Computer Entertainment has revealed PS4 Custom Faceplates in a range of colours that will allow owners to customise their PlayStation 4 consoles. The first PS4 faceplates are initially set to be released in four colours, Neon Orange,Glacier White, Aqua Blue, and Red on the 18th of November this Year. Two more colours, Gold and Silver faceplates, will also be made available at a later date.

In an announcement on the PlayStation EU Blog, SCEE had this to say about the upcoming PS4 faceplates: “Quick and easy to fit, you can customise your system in a matter of seconds. Simply remove the HDD bay cover and then slide and click your chosen PS4 Custom faceplate over the PS4 hard disc drive. . . Whether you want your PS4 looking bold and bright or stylish and sleek, with six colours to choose from it’s easy to get the look you’re after”.

While the press release mentions six colours the bad news is that some colours wont be available to PlayStation 4 owners in the UK, Australia, and Ireland. Quite why certain colours are not made available in certain territories is a mystery, as when New DualShock 4 Wireless Controllers were announced.

PS4 Custom Faceplate Introduction Trailer

This time the Silver and Gold coloured faceplates will be not be available in the UK, although Sony was quick to mention that more colours would be available in the coming months. The news will be well received within the PS4 gaming community, with users upset with the unavailability of exclusives found in other territories such as Japan.

The popularity of console customisation should push Sony to roll out products that gamers especially in the west, have long clamoured for. So far the Japanese Gaming giant has been slow to move on this demand, although other customisations such as stickers are readily available. However the company may be missing a lucrative line in video game franchise related PS4 Custom faceplates and other products.

Hopefully Sony will begin to take notice of its loyal PS4 user base and give the gamers what they want!
