Ninja Theory recently took to the PlayStation Blog to show off their latest development diary on their upcoming PlayStation 4 title Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The new video is an update on Hellblade’s combat gameplay featuring new footage of some in-game action. Check out the trailer below:

In the update, Ninja Theory reveal that they have been working hard on the look and feel of the hotly anticipated title’s combat gamely. The focus on this aspect of the game is one of the most important as the developer is looking to capture as realistic an experience as possible.

The painstaking work has involved the repetition of combat simulations, hand animations and motion captured stunts in an attempt to bring Senua’s character and movement to life.

In addition to working on the aspects of Senua’s newly acquired combat skills, Ninja Theory has recently been working on building an environment that will showcase her abilities. Character art, FX, audio, cinematics and programming are all aspects of the game that are still being perfected with regards to combat in Hellblade.

Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice

The development of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice continues apace and while the combat-focused group continues to work on that aspect of the game, the rest of the team are working on other parts of the game to ensure the finished product will be perfect. The developer also acknowledged that there was still a long way to go in the project, but the talented team is happy with the progress they have made so far.

Ninja Theory actually has a custom home-made performance capture studio and the developer will be using this for more work on Hellblade. This includes planning out the game’s remaining music with the game’s’ composer, Andy Laplegua, and working on  Senua’s movement outside of combat.

This latest diary entry is actually Ninja Theory’s 23rd video on the development of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice; if you like what you have seen in the video above you may want to catch up with the rest of the videos that the developer has posted previously. You can see them all here.
