Game Streaming service Twitch has announced that a new PS4 Twitch App is now available.
The new app for PlayStation streamers has now been updated to allow PS4 owners watch, follow, chat, or stream to gamers on Twitch using other platforms in addition to PlayStation 4. Twitch had earlier teased users with a few details on the upgrade at TwitchCon 2015.
Highlights of the new PS4 Twitch app include long awaited features such as watching live and recorded videos of favourite or popular games, players, and events. The revamped app will also come with full chat integration, the ability to follow channels and games from any platform, and a new PlayStation 4 broadcasters discovery section.
Before the update PlayStation 4 owners on the game streaming service could stream their videos on the site but were limited to interactions with other PS4 owners only.Although the PlayStation app is also compatible with Sony’s PlayStation Vita and PS3 consoles, most of the new updates will initially only apply to PS4 users. Twitch has promised to roll out the new features to all PlayStation consoles in the near future.
PS4 Twitch App is Good News For Users of the Service
News of the update will be welcomed by PlayStation 4 owners who use the service and wish to interact with gamers on a cross platform basis, just like every other non PS4 Twitch user.
The PS4 Twitch app will roll out in the Americas first, with countries including Canada, the US, Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil among the first to get access to the new service. All eligible countries and a promise of the updated app rolling out to other regions soon can be seen on the official Twitch Blog.
For PS3 and PS Vita owners, the post mentions a launch of the app on the two consoles in the fall of this year. The PlayStation Vita version of the app will also include the ability to be used through PS TV.
