While the new title already looks like a great game in the making it is still early days yet. Also, its new fans may be surprised to find out that the development team comprises only 3 members!

Based in San Francisco, the small group of developers that make up No Matter Studios has dedicated a lot of energy towards the project. Having initially decided to create the action survival game. The trio turned to KickStarter to raise the money required to complete it. As a result, the unique situation forced the developers to approach the making of the game differently. Their unique way of storytelling ensures players remain gripped by events throughout the game.

Prey for the Gods: A Shadow of the Colossus Inspired Adventure

Prey for the Gods PS4 Survival Game

Most noteworthy in the Studios announcement however, is the way it looks to Shadow of the Colossus for inspiration. The classic action-adventure was published by Sony for the PS2 console in 2005. Refreshingly No Matter Studios does not deny this influence but fully embraces it. In an outlook that is sometimes lost on makers of AAA games, this is what the studio had to say:

“When approaching Prey for the Gods, we wanted to embrace that ambition. Our goal isn’t to make a sequel, or make a carbon copy of Shadow of the Colossus. We want to push ourselves to create a game that we want to play. A game that exemplifies the core mechanics, and atmosphere that one sees — and if we do it right inspire others to do the same.”

Inspiring stuff indeed. Good luck to No Matter Studios as they continue working on Prey for the Gods. Find out more about the game in the official trailer below:
