Action-adventure survival game No Man’s Sky has been out on PS4 for just over 4 months and has now got its first major update. The games’ indie developer Hello Games has released the foundation update which adds base building, new game modes, and freighters. The studio has worked extensively on the update, details of which you can see below:

Building your own Home Base

By their own admission, Hello Games spent the first few weeks following the release of No Mans Sky fixing critical bugs and patches. The team spent the best part of six weeks updating the open world game with a number of patches before turning their attention to this first major update.

Bases are essential for shelter and storage purposes but can also be used for a variety of purposes such as research. With farming and the ability to hire NPC’s for your production also added players can easily check up on things at any time by teleporting back to base.

Bases also allow players to test themselves to the limit in the game. The new addition unlocks lots of new abilities such as the ability to build equipment in the field, and hiring NPCs from Space Stations so they can carry out research on new tech and products.

3 New Game Modes + Freighters

The second key update is the addition of three new game modes to the highly acclaimed action adventure survival Game. The first game mode is the Normal mode, which sticks to the original exploration experience of No Man’s Sky. Playing in survival mode gives you a more challenging experience, and creative mode will allow to explore the game’s’ universe without limits.

Creative mode will also give the ability to build as big a base as you wish, giving the freedom to push yourself to the limits of your ambition in-game.

Among the numerous new improvements added by Hello is the arrival of freighters. These are massive spaceships that players can board and commandeer by buying the captains loyalty. Any freighters you own can be summoned from anywhere in the galaxy to ferry goods for trading and the like.

Hello also took time to make some tweaks in response to feedback from players, adding requested updates like a new quick menu, bigger inventories, and stackable Products.
