Your PlayStation 4 is very soon going to look a lot different and will pack in many more features, thanks to the upcoming PS4 System Software 4.00. The beta for the software will soon be rolled out to the users who signed for the public beta program. While the date for public availability is not yet known, the company gave us a glimpse of what the update is going to look like.

Whether you’ve signed up or not, below you’ll get a heads-up to what will soon be rolled out to the rest of the PlayStation 4 community; Here are the features that will make their way to the console via PS4 System Software 4.00.

A Refreshed User Interface

The complete UI of the PS4 has been updated and it is definitely the most noticeable change of all. The system icons have been completely redesigned and popup notifications have also witnessed a few changes. There are a few more changes, but the overall UI remains to be what people are familiar with.

Besides this, the system backgrounds have a refreshed feel and the What’s New tab has also been revised. All the major and minor changes have been made to make the UI more user-friendly and refined.

PS4 Share Menu

Quick Menu & Share Menu

The handy Quick Menu has become easier to use as it covers only a portion of the screen when launched and you don’t need to leave the game to access the menu. A set of new items have also been added to the menu and you can further customise it according to your will.

Sharing video clips and screenshots on social networks has become a lot easier and faster. Just like the Quick Menu, the Share Menu too doesn’t cover the entire screen. Also, the upper limit for sharing videos on Twitter has been increased from 10 seconds to 140 seconds.

PS4 Folders and Library Organization

Folder and Library Organisation

Also part of the PS4 System is Folder and Library Organisation. The feature was one of the most requested by users as a way to organise all their content on PS4. The folder organisation feature has been added in the latest update. The folders help organise all your games and apps in one place and let you access them quickly.

Library has seen some of the major changes and those include a new tab named Purchased. The tab will show all the content that you own, while the Games and Applications tab will only show the contents that are currently installed. This will make the library more organised and help you find you content a lot faster.

Improvements to Trophies

If you want to see your trophies when offline, you couldn’t do that until now. But with the latest update, an offline mode has also been added that lets you see all your trophies even when you aren’t connected to the internet.

Along with this, the information about the Hidden Trophies can also be viewed, a button has been added allowing you to see the details, though the details would be hidden by default. The icon that shows the rarity of a Trophy has also been changed to display information in a better way.

User Profile

With all the changes being made to other menu options of the PS4 UI, the makers didn’t forget the user profile. The look of the user profiles has been updated and it now offers much more information than before. The players can add a background image of their choice, and you can even place a screenshot of your gameplay in the background. The profile will also display the comparison of your Trophy progress with other players.
