Its the beginning of a new year so the time has come to take a look at PlayStation 4 Magazine’s Top 10 PS4 Games for 2016. The list below is a mixture of PlayStation 4 exclusives, third-party titles, and independently made games. In no particular order, here are the top 10 PlayStation 4 games we are looking forward to here at PS4 Mag:

PlayStation 4 Magazine’s Top 10 PS4 Games for 2016

(There a number of games making their debuts on the PS4 console as well as a slew of exclusives which make for a lot of exciting anticipation in 2016, so feel free to name your favourites and / or suggestions in the comments section below.)

  1. Amplitude

Coming out of the studio of veteran music games developer Harmonix, the makers of RockBand, Amplitude was revived by the studio via a Kickstarter campaign. The game is a reboot of the much loved and critically acclaimed title originally released for PlayStation 3 in 2003.

Amplitude is a fast-paced game in which players ride through a digital world devoid of musical notes thanks to some encapsulating gems. Gamers on PS4 will take to their ship, the “Beat Blaster” to build complete songs by destroying these gems and releasing the music.

From scurrying around blasting out notes or riffs as you try to build a sound-scape, to grabbing power-ups without missing a note, there is much to look forward to from Amplitude, especially for music game lovers. Amplitude is now out on PS4 higher fidelity graphics, brand new music, and lots more.

2.  Mass Effect: Andromeda

The next instalment in the Mass Effect franchise is the eagerly anticipated Mass Effect: Andromeda. Andromeda is a sequel to Mass Effect 3 and the plot of the game takes place years after the events of the first three games in the Mass Effect series.

The games’ developer, Bioware, has stressed that the original trilogy is complete, and Mass Effect: Andromeda will be a completely new story in the Mass Effect Universe. The game is being built on the FrostBite 3 engine from EA-owned DICE and is slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2016.


3. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

From one sequel to another in our list of Top 10 PS4 Games for 2016. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the cyberpunk RPG game from Eidos. Following on from the tradition of exploring strong themes in its storyline, Mankind Divided will feature political propaganda, warmongering, and terrorist threats.

That may all sound a bit to heavy but the franchises’ track record combined with the ability to once again play as everyone’s favourite cyborg hero in Adam Jensen makes this one to look out for in 2016.Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is out on PlayStation 4 on February 23 2016.


4. Horizon: Zero Dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn is the first new gaming franchise from award winning developers Guerilla Games since the blockbuster Killzone series. The all action role-playing game features a skilled female hunter and archer named Aloy and will be set a thousand years in the future.


5. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has suffered many setbacks, the latest being a further delay of the games’ launch date. This has not diminished fans’ anticipation for the action adventure third-person shooter title however. Naughty Dog has already confirmed the new release date as the 27th of April 2016 in all PAL regions.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the largest edition of the Uncharted series and the pressure is on Developers Naughty Dog to deliver. The fact that the games maker has extended Uncharted 4’s release is an indication that Naughty Dog is paying attention to detail and wants the game to be perfect before release. That can only be a good thing for all Uncharted fans and good enough to still make this one of our Top 10 PS4 Games for 2016.


 

6. Tekken 7

2 of the biggest blockbuster fighting games of all time, Street Fighter and Tekken, return in 2016 and had to be in our Top 10 PS4 Games for 2016 list. Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7 will be coming to PS4 with PlayStation VR support and a 3D fights feature. Tekken 7 will be the 9th instalment in the long running franchise and is slated for release sometime in March 2016.


 

7. Street Fighter V

 

The hugely anticipated Street Fighter V lands on PlayStation 4 as a console exclusive, a result of a partnership between Sony Computer Entertainment and CapcomAs Street Fighter V is also available on PC, both beginners and Street Fighter veterans will be able to utilise the new cross-platform play feature to challenge friends and fellow players from one centralised player base.


 

8.  Gran Turismo Sport

Announced at the Paris Games Week in 2015, Gran Turismo Sport will be a standalone title of the popular racing video game franchise. GT Sport will feature both online and offline racing and will have 3 racing modes, namely campaign, sports, and arcade. Check out the announcement trailer above for a quick preview.


 

9.  Hitman

Agent 47 makes a comeback on the PlayStation 4 console along with some exclusive content for Sony’s flagship gaming machine. Out on 11 March 2016.


 

10. OverWatch

Overwatch lineup-wide

Coming from Blizzard, the makers of World of Warcraft, Overwatch will be a team-based arena shooter featuring over 20 playable characters. This one makes our Top 10 PS4 Games for 2016 list because we want it to come out this year, if not sooner! Overwatch definitely looks to be shaping up to be a huge classic.
