Following on from the strong start PlayStation VR has had in 2018, Sony is cutting the VR headsets’ starter pack by €100. In the UK that amounts to almost £90, a pretty tidy saving for those looking to get in on the system. The price drops comes into effect starting today, 29 March 2018. In addition to some great titles already this year and a great list still lined up, the PS VR system is shaping up to be very much Sony’s biggest focus this year.

PlayStation VR Starter Pack Now €299.99

Although the PlayStation VR headset is one of the leading virtual reality systems out there, its uptake by PS4 owners has been rather muted. Obviously, the systems original price may have had something to do with it. But as we noted earlier this year Sony is starting to make a big push on PS VR. The company’s support has increased in the form of a strong line up of games and a range of new Bundles.

And now Sony has turned its sights on lowering the price of the system’s entry level bundle. Originally priced at £349.99 in the UK, the PlayStation VR systems starter pack will now have an RRP of £262.00. For that price you’ll get a PS VR headset, a PlayStation Camera, and a copy of a PlayStation VR Worlds download code.

The starter pack makes for a great entry point for those looking to get a PS VR for their PS4. However, with gamers having to fork out over £350 for some PS4 consoles, it waits to be seen if the price drop helps Sony shift more PS VR systems.

Hopefully the plan has the desired effect, so more and more PS4 owners can get to experience PS VR for themselves. In addition, bear in mind that this is a Recommended Retail price, so some retailers will likely sell the system at even lower.
